SEO Helper by D4 for Google Sheets™ ("the add-on") is a Google Workspace™ add-on for Google Sheets™ that helps users collect SEO data, analyze text, and generate SEO content. This policy explains what data the add-on accesses, how it is used, whether it is shared, how it is protected, and how long it is retained.
The add-on accesses the following data, only when you actively run one of its functions:
Google Sheets™ content — the text you place in your spreadsheet (keywords, page URLs, headings, structure, and article text). The add-on reads this data to perform SEO analysis and content generation, and writes results back into the same spreadsheet.
Google Docs™ content — when you select a document through the in-app Google Picker dialog, the add-on reads that specific document's text for keyword-frequency and question-coverage analysis. Access is granted per-file by you at the moment of selection (drive.file scope); the add-on cannot access any other files in your Drive.
The add-on does not access your files browsing history, your contacts, your email, or any Google data other than the specific spreadsheet you are working in and the specific documents you link.
Your data is used solely to provide the add-on's features that you request: collecting SEO data, analyzing word and phrase frequency, generating and improving SEO text, checking keyword usage and question coverage, translating text, and formatting HTML.
To generate and analyze text, the add-on sends the relevant text you are working on to third-party AI providers (see below). No data is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering the feature you invoked.
To provide AI-powered features, the add-on transmits the specific text you are processing to the following API providers (Gemini and Claude). In addition, anonymous usage statistics are sent to Google Analytics 4, as described below:
Google Gemini API (Google LLC) — for SEO data collection and query classification.
Anthropic Claude API (Anthropic PBC) — for text generation, improvement, translation, summarization, and analysis.
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — receives only the anonymous usage data described in the "Anonymous usage analytics" section.
Only the text necessary to perform the requested operation is sent to the AI providers, which process it to return a result under their respective privacy and data-use terms. The add-on does not sell or share your data with any other third party.
The add-on's use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically: Google user data obtained through the add-on is not used, transferred, or sold to develop, train, improve, or fine-tune any foundational or generalized machine-learning or artificial-intelligence models. Text is sent to the AI providers named above only to generate an immediate result for the user's current request, and is not retained by the add-on for model training.
The add-on does not operate its own database or server. It does not store copies of your Google Sheets™ or Google Docs™ content. All data remains in your own Google account; the add-on reads it at the moment you run a function and writes results back into your spreadsheet.
The add-on stores only the following values, so that you do not have to re-enter them each time:
your API key (for Gemini or Claude), which you enter yourself and which is kept in Google Apps Script PropertiesService (user properties) tied to the add-on;
your selected output language, kept in the document properties of your spreadsheet;
a randomly generated anonymous identifier, kept in your user properties for the add-on and used only for anonymous usage analytics (see "Anonymous usage analytics").
You can remove your API key at any time. No other user data is persisted by the add-on.
Text sent to the AI providers is retained only by those providers under their own retention policies; the add-on itself keeps no copy after the result is returned.
The add-on collects anonymous usage statistics using Google Analytics 4 (Measurement Protocol) to understand which features are used and to fix errors. For each action you run from the sidebar, the following data is sent: the name of the feature (for example, "collectSeoData"), the outcome (success or error), and a randomly generated identifier stored in your Google user properties for the add-on.
This identifier is a random value. It is not your email address, name or Google account ID, and it cannot be used to identify you.
We do NOT send the content of your spreadsheets, URLs, texts, keywords, API keys, file names, error messages or any other Google user data to Google Analytics. This analytics data is not used for advertising and is not shared with any third party other than Google Analytics.
All communication with the Gemini and Anthropic APIs uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Your API key is stored in Apps Script user properties and is not exposed in the spreadsheet or shared with anyone. The add-on accesses your data only while a function is actively running and only within your own Google account.
You control which data the add-on sees by choosing what to place in your spreadsheet and which documents to link.
You can revoke the add-on's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
You can remove your stored API key at any time.
